Fan-favorite water type starter Greninja seems to be the next seven-star raid event for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
For the first time, Greninja will be available to catch in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. The water type starter will serve as the game’s third seven-star raid boss and will also be its introduction into the Paldea region.
In Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, Tera Raids play a vital role and are an easy way for players to obtain important items such as Herba Mystica, these items are vital for aspiring shiny hunters as they increase shiny encounter rates and can usually be obtained by completing five-star and six-star Tera Raids. Luckily, most of these raids can be handled while playing solo, unluckily the same cannot be said about seven-star Tera Raids. These raids are significantly more difficult and allow players to catch rare Pokémon that would usually be unobtainable later in-game.
Details about the latest seven star raid boss include that Greninja would have the poison Tera-type and will have the Mightiest Mark, something that is common with most seven-star Pokémon. This means that players will only be allowed one Greninja per save file and will either need to trade or breed if they want to obtain another.
As for its Tera-type, while Greninja has lost its psychic resistance, it also means that tera builds of Pokémon such Slowbro, which was the Pokémon of choice for the Cinderace raid event, and Azumarill, which players used to face the Charizard raid, will not work this time around. Let’s see what wild strategies the Pokémon community will come up with this event.
The event will take place from 00:00 UTC, 27 January 2023 to 23:59 UTC, 29 January 2023. The event will repeat at the same time from 10 February 2023 to 12 February 2023. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are exclusives for the Nintendo Switch.
