As Mortal Kombat 1 is getting close to being released soon, NetherRealm is still tweaking the game on the go.
Nowadays there is a rush in the NetherRealm Studios. Their mainline fighting game, Mortal Kombat, is having a return back to its roots and as we all know, Mortal Kombat 1 gets released tomorrow for the premium edition owners. Meanwhile, owners of the premium edition get a lot of additional content at the start, there is still confusion about NetherRealm’s promised crossplay feature and its absence. NetherRealm did promise a crossplay- or as they call it “Krossplay”- in their previous interviews with various people, and they seemed to forget about it.
Until the official Twitter post made a mention of the crossplay in a recent post. Said post stated that the crossplay feature will not be available at launch, but people at NetherRealm are working hard to implement it in future updates of Mortal Kombat 1. It sounds well for people on the console, but it creates another problem for the PC players. While console players are confirmed to get a crossplay option, the PC platform might have just taken out of the occasion.
The reason why PC players are pessimistic about the exclusion of crossplay came from one of the data miners, finding out the crossplay tab was quietly taken down from the Steam page of Mortal Kombat 1. If NetherRealm decides to only feature crossplay between Playstation and Xbox consoles, they will be taking the same route as they took with Mortal Kombat 11, making PC players out of the field.
Not all hope is lost though. If enough people suggest that PC should be able to be included in the crossplay, NetherRealm could make it a reality. After all, other popular fighting games such as Street Fighter 6 have the option to have a fight against someone using a different machine. This first month should be a training ground for NetherRealm and listen to people with their requests on the game in order to give the best outcome.
Mortal Kombat 1 is going to be released tomorrow for the Premium Edition owners as early access for PlayStation 5, Xbox X|S, and PC. The full launch is on the 19th of September for everyone who pre-purchased the regular version.
