While at the event, Ortega was nominated for the Best Lead Actress in the comedy series titled, Losing Out to Quinta Brubson. During the interview with Ortega, the entertainment juggernaut revealed that she had gotten “some scripts” regarding the second season of Wednesday that would get fans excited.
Ortega stated – “We’re definitely leaning into a little bit more horror,” further stating that “It’s really, really exciting because, all throughout the show while Wednesday does need a little bit of an arc, she never really changes and that’s the wonderful thing about her. There’s really, really good one-liners and I think everything’s bigger.” She added on “it’s a lot more action-packed. Each episode will probably feel a little bit more like a movie which is nice.”
With Ortega in the lead role of the iconic Addams Family character attending Nevermore Academy, it was revealed in December that a spinoff focusing on the character and everybody’s favorite uncle, Uncle Fester Addams, who was brilliantly portrayed by actor Fred Armisen is currently in development by Netflix.
With the hit Netflix series, Wednesday, leaning more towards the horror genre, Ortega also reflected on the show’s first season and admitted that the horror elements of the show need to be more seen, as well as having any Romantic interests for the character Wednesday removed with Ortega admitting the love-triangle she found herself in “made no sense” for the character, Wednesday Addams.
