This new Microsoft deal will ensure that all games including titles like: Call of Duty will be coming to Nintendo.
Brad Smith, President of Microsoft, has just recently announced that Xbox has signed a 10 year long binding contract that ensures that Activision based titles like Call of Duty will be made available on Nintendo, the same day as Xbox.
This announcement was via twitter:
This signed deal means that the company is seemingly living up to their promise as opposed to ‘hoarding’ the success of the titles for themselves. Brad Smith stating that they have a commitment to bring Activision titles “like Call of Duty to more players on more platforms” only enforces this belief.
The deal regarding Activision-Blizzard and Xbox was first stated last year as Xbox sent out a deal to purchase the company for $70 Billion. The outcry from many was heard, particularly since the CEO of Activision-Blizzard Bobby Kotick had been involved in some controversy as he supposedly enforced the infamously terrible working environment found in the company.
The FTC recently sued Microsoft for potential anti-trust claims and Microsoft are still desperately clamouring for a similar deal with Sony in hopes of bringing Call of Duty to PlayStation and ending the overall issue.
Overall, this news means that Microsoft is heading in a positive direction regarding the future of their games. Current Nintendo systems are unlikely to able to run the newest iteration of Call of Duty, so this could also possibly hint at the possible future of Nintendo and how they evolve in terms of their system development going forward.
