Developer Blingame reports the Steam Early Access delivery date for Haak, its forthcoming somber and activity-stuffed Metroidvania.
Haak was declared in May 2019, yet news from developer Blingame has been moderately delayed. That is obviously due to Blingame working diligently to prepare Haak for Early Access, which is currently affirmed to launch on September 16. To begin with, Haak will be solely accessible on Steam.
Little is known about Haak’s story, setting, and even its protagonist. All that Blingame is willing to say so far is that Haak means black in Cantonese, which is “the key color of our protagonist, as well as the game aesthetic.” Otherwise, Haak happens in a barren no-man’s land where there’s a baffling association that represents a gigantic danger.
Players will “fathom riddles” and “grasp the world’s definitive mystery,” which appears to infer that they’ll need to make sense of what’s happening all alone. Blingame says it’s taken direct inspiration from Super Metroid as well as The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Haak. As such, it’s understandable that Haak features a mix of exploration, with all manner of side quests, as well as a heavy focus on action combat, offering a variety of unique weapons and skills for players to use in battle.
As for Haak’s Early Access status, Blingame plans to keep it in development for another 12 months beyond September. The Early Access version of the game will feature “three main chapters,” with the full game concluding the game’s story and introducing a ton of side content, hidden levels, and progression systems.
Furthermore, Haak is Blingame’s first delivery, so it needs to ensure and take in as much criticism as possible in order to clean the game up to player desires. Haak releases September 16 on PC in Early Access.
