Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass has accidentally shown players how many new DLC characters are coming to the game.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe fans now know how many new DLC characters are coming to the kart racing game, thanks to the release of Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass. This comes a month after Birdo was added to the game, which many fans suspected wasn’t the last character being added to the game.
It has been over four years since fans of the game received any new courses and characters for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The Booster Course Pass was promised to bring over 48 new racing courses to the game through a series of 6 wave releases. During the most recent Nintendo Direct, it was shown that Birdo would be joining the roster of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe along with the new course Yoshi’s Island.
Now with the addition of Birdo to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, fans are excited to see what other characters from both Mario Kart and other Nintendo properties will be added to the game. The reason for this excitement is that with Wave 4 of the Booster Course Pass, the character selection was updated with 5 empty character slots.
The amount of empty character slots contradicts a leak that said over 14 new characters were coming to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as a part of the next DLC. The characters mentioned in the leak included Pauline, King Bob-omb, and Dixie Kong. While these characters may not be coming to the game all at once, we are still likely to see them, considering the recent addition of Birdo.
While we may not be getting all the 14 characters coming in the supposed leak, we are getting 5 new confirmed characters coming to Nintendo’s character-karting game and probably more with the next waves of the Booster Course Pass. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe is currently available for the Nintendo Switch.
