The next entry into the Like a Dragon Series, Like a Dragon 8 has been revealed along with a new teaser trailer.
There truly is no game quite like the Yakuza: Like a Dragon game series and it would seem Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio has unveiled the eighth mainline game, Like a Dragon 8, with a rather quirky yet fitting teaser trailer. This new teaser trailer was first shown off during the Xbox Games Show, where a number of new games from Sega were revealed alongside Like a Dragon 8, including Persona 3 Reload and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
In traditional Yakuza fashion, the humorous trailer opens up with our protagonist Ichiban Kasuga waking up on a stark and unfamiliar beach, while also being completely oblivious to the fact that he is also butt naked, he does eventually become aware of this when a now terrified beach goer shrieks and calls him a streaker, laughter ensues and it is only when a couple point out he’s naked does our naked protagonist attempt to cover himself up.
This isn’t the first we’ve heard about Like a Dragon 8, as the title was first announced during the RGG Summit 2022 event, that is also when we learned that along with Ichiban Kasuga, we will also be seeing the return of longtime series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu. Along with the announcement of Kiryu’s return we also learned about two other spin-offs – Like a Dragon Gaiden and a remake of Like a Dragon Ishin!
The trailer definitely caused a stir on Twitter, with many gamers and fans trying to figure out where the game’s location is, considering the style of clothing that some of the characters wear, many believe that the game will be set in Hawaii. Alongside the new teaser trailer, the game’s official website also went live, where we also received more screenshots which made fans even more excited for what’s to come.
