Expect the Lies of P DLC sometime in early 2024 since Version 1.3.0.0 is a substantial upgrade and a terrific addition to the game.
Lies of P has rapidly become a favorite for Souls fans because it adopted many excellent features from other games in this genre. Everything about the game’s narrative, location, and gameplay is as remarkable as anything from FromSoftware. While the game has been patched twice after its release, Neowiz Games has just released the latest patch, Version 1.3.0.0, and when you launch the game for the first time after installing it, you’ll see a pleasant message that complimentary rewards are waiting for you. The cosmetic pieces, including an Alidoro complete set, will be provided free of charge. And the Alchemist hat and Green Glasses to spice up your character’s appearance.
However, Version 1.3.0.0 of Lies of P represents a substantial rework of the game’s existing features and adversaries. The Rising Dodge enhancement, previously available exclusively via the P Organ, will now instantly be available to all players. It was a great ability that should have been included in the game from the start because it allowed you to avoid getting struck when you fell to the ground after taking a severe strike, typically from a mini-boss or boss, since without it, your character would be helpless for additional three to four seconds after an attack. You can safely avoid the boss’s strikes and still take a beating without worrying about missing your next opportunity to escape harm.
Afterward, for those curious, the retain Guard Regain following Pulse Cell use is the substitute P Organ; yes, I know that’s a mouthful, but trust me, it’s worth it. Since a Pulse Cell is used to wipe out any recovery you had made, this change makes regain function more like grade-out health, which can be restored with a series of hits. Pulse Cell users are rewarded for jumping back into the fray quickly after using the item by restoring even more health with subsequent assaults.
But that’s not all; the gameplay and overall feel are also modifications. The difficulty adjustments to the environment are only one example of a section of the patch notes that is more broad and lacks specificity. The only changes mentioned are increased damage and staggering powers for some weapons. Some weapons that we do know have changed are, in fact, the Coil Mjolnir, Exploding Pickaxe, and the Acidic Great Curved Sword. These weapons can be customized with Electric Blitz, Overheat, or Decay after being imbued with the Fable art.
After utilizing the Fable to achieve this effect, using it on their opponents usually takes forever. That time has been cut in half, and in most cases where the Grind Stone was preferable, these weapons are now viable options for applying those components. Combining these weapons into your build and employing a different Grind Stone to boost your attack damage or parrying abilities is another advantage of playing the game that allows for a wide variety of alternate strategies and build configurations.
The weapon assembly is well-balanced as well. All the move sets and timing have been fine-tuned to seem natural when used with different weapon combinations. The Charged Heavies now require more time to build up their power before they can be unleashed on their foes. However, the inverse is true: you can combine your preferred light weapon with the game’s longest weapon. It’s more well-balanced, and as a result, you’ll move faster than before. The amount of Guard Regain you can get with the lighter blades has also been increased. They’ve been much fairer, so there’s more reason to utilize them now.
In addition, the shops at the Hotel Krat will give you three more Quartz. The remaining items on the list are substantial upgrades but are presented poorly, at least from a terminology standpoint. Considering that most of them are as general as making some monsters’ attack speeds more user-friendly. However, the duration of posture breaks has been lengthened for some monsters and mini-bosses.
Lies of P Version 1.3.0.0 is a fantastic addition to the game and a significant improvement, as we might expect the Lies of P DLC in early 2024. So things are looking up for Lies of P, as many would’ve expected, and Neowiz Games and Round 8 Studio must be the product of what they’ve delivered, which happens to be their very first attempts at the souls-like genre.
