The Most Ambitious Lego Game Ever!
Traveller’s Tales have been purveyors of high quality Lego games for years now, joyously bombarding our screens with the ludicrous nature of; LEGO. Whether we traipsed our way across the verdant landscapes of Lego Middle Earth or Battle as Iron Man alongside a colossal number of Avengers, Lego has always been an incredible variant of escapism in our lives, but let me tell you, you haven’t seen anything yet. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is something else entirely.
The recently released gameplay trailer shows the immense nature of the game. Playing through the entire Skywalker saga with a new and refurbished combat system that looks like a insane Jedi: Fallen Order combined with Gears of War. It’s actually incredibly impressive. Having multiple combat options depending on a character is expected in a lego game, but on average the shift is not massive. In the skywalker saga it is totally different, if you want to fire a blaster you can actually aim. Whilst if you wield a lightsaber, you can actually have combos… combos!? In a lego game? What? This is incredible.
In addition to that, it is shown in the newly released gameplay trailer that players can explore the vast regions of some of Star Wars’ most infamous locations. From the stretched dunes of Tattooine, to the jungles of Kashyyyk, To the urban city planet of Coruscant, to… that planet Moz Kanata is on… Anyway, you can adventure across it all, encountering scenarios that only certain characters can combat. The example shown in the trailer is Rey using a scavenger net gun to clamber up a wall.
This takes us to the final and arguably the most interesting part of the game. Skill trees? How can they’re be skill trees. As if Traveller’s Tales weren’t attempting to blow the fans minds with all the already mentioned innovations, the addition of skill trees that seem to actually have an impact (hopefully) is something that will only take a game like this and enhance it beyond measure.
Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga releases April 5th 2022 on: PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
