ININ Games has been granted official publishing rights for the iconic Shenmue III by YS NET.
The publication rights for the classic and iconic video game Shenmue III have been legally transferred to ININ Games. The partnership with Suzuki’s company YS NET has continued, and ININ has disclosed that it will be publishing Shenmue III following the success of Air Twister. ININ Games came into the scene with their shoot-em-up title Cotton Fantasy, which was yet another revival of a retro SEGA title.
For those who didn’t know, Shenmue’s history is quite rich. This action-adventure game was first published by SEGA back in 1999, with a sequel in 2021. The game became very popular in Japan and later on throughout the world because of its innovative story and open-world gameplay.
It soon reached a trailblazer rank in the video game industry, and the series has captivated genre fans since its release. This legacy is carried on by Shenmue III even though it didn’t receive the expected reception on Steam, but ININ ensures that the series’ foundation remains unchanged by subsequent releases.
As ININ partnered with YS Net for their previous game, Air Twister, in 2022, this helped strengthen the partnership with the illustrious Yu Suzuki, who produced and directed the Shenmue series. ININ Games will be able to continue their tradition of reviving classic games for new platforms.
Two significant anniversaries—the 25th anniversary of the Shenmue series and the 5th anniversary of Shenmue III—coincide with this transfer. ININ Games has committed to continuing to bring Ryo Hazuki’s story to fans, both old and new, and to preserve it for the future.
The plot of Shenmue will continue long after this transfer has taken place. In addition to marking these anniversary milestones, ININ Games plans to ensure that this adored series keeps on giving.
