Trophy lists that recently leaked online seem to suggest that Hotline Miami and its sequel are coming to PS5.
As stated before, remakes and remasters while somewhat frowned upon, are generally a great way of giving future generations a chance to experience a game series. Sadly, not many games are lucky enough to receive the remake treatment, even if they’re successful. However, remaking a game isn’t the only option as ports work just as well, and it would seem that the fan favorites, Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, could be making their way onto the PS5 according to a supposedly “leaked” trophy list.
While it’s yet to be confirmed, a port of Hotline Miami and its sequel does make sense, when you consider that since its launch in 2020, the PS5 has been receiving a large amount of ports and remasters coming onto the platform. This is also likely thanks to the PS Plus subscription service which is a service that lets players have access to older PlayStation exclusive titles from multiple generations, ranging from the PS1 to the PS3 – The service even supports games from the handheld PSP. This service is meant to compete with longtime rival, Xbox’s Game Pass. Anyway, the addition of Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2 will be a welcome addition to the platform.
This rumor comes to us from the leaked trophy list that was found on the achievement tracking website, Exophase, which suggests that both Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2 will be coming soon to the PlayStation 5. According to the trophy list that was leaked, players will be able to get platinum trophies for both games, as each title is listed separately from its original PS3 counterparts.
The most likely reason as to why trophies will not be transferred from title to title is due to the PS5 not having any cross-buy feature for the previous releases of the game. Take a grain of salt as always as we still need to get confirmation from both Devolver Digital and Sony if the trophy lists are in fact legitimate.
It’s safe to say that if these leaks and rumors do turn out to be true, both games will greatly benefit from being on the PS5. Unlike the PS3, the more modern console has 4K capabilities, as well as higher frame rate support. Hopefully, we will be getting an announcement soon, so best keep your eyes peeled on the developer’s official social medias.
