Players can find a familiar face while playing the new GTA V Halloween event.
There are many questions on whether GTA VI is still in the works or close to being shared with players soon. While we do not know the reality behind Rockstar’s next project, the studio is still pumping online content for the multiplayer side of GTA V even after its 10th anniversary. In summer, developers push a regular update while a second one arrives close to the holiday season. For extra, Rockstar adds little events during Halloween to keep players busy.
The developers always come up with different ideas every year for Halloween, in the previous years, a crazy clown would chase you or you would have to solve the mystery of a murder. This year, things got a bit deeper with the lore and the event as players encountered one of the most respected protagonists of the franchise during their mystery hunt. First, players are tasked with taking random NPC ghosts on certain points of the Lost Santos. These are generic NPCs and do not have any background.
There are spoilers ahead for the single-player side of the GTA V so it’s best if you avoid reading this part. When it comes to the last photo shoot, we find Johnny Klebitz at the place where he was murdered by Trevor. It does not only show his ghost though, there is a faint song playing in the background, the same as the one we heard in GTA IV’s Lost and Damned DLC. We can also hear Johnny’s few lines from the cutscene too.
The photoshoot of Johnny is the only time we ever see Rockstar paying tribute to the character. Back in 2013, when GTA V was first released, fans were quite bitter about Johhny’s death due to some loose-headed lunatic by the name of Trevor. To be honest, people were right, the choice of killing Johhny was too much in terms of being loyal to the series.
Johnny was known as an anti-drug person, keeping his girlfriend off drugs during Lost and Damned’s story. After the events of Lost of Damned, Johnny and his biker club moves from Liberty City to Los Santos but their fate finds a bad ending for an absurd reason, most people still do not forgive Rockstar for their decision.
The event itself does not give a ton of rewards, unfortunately. Once all of the ten photos are taken, it unlocks a livery for the newly released Brigham vehicle that is a direct reference to the Ghostbusters franchise. The event will go through the end of the month and more spookiness awaits for the regular players of GTA V in the servers.
