With the impending GTA 5 10-year milestone, it’s clear that GTA 6 is coming sooner than planned.
With the 10-year anniversary of Grand Theft Auto 5 coming up this year, it was only right for GTA 6 news to start to head our way. But with development only being confirmed last year and a leak taking place towards the end of 2022, it seemed as though there might not be any news for a while.
But it looks like news, and maybe even the game, is coming sooner than we thought. Publisher Take-Two Interactive published their press release for the yearly income as well as a projection of what can be expected from the company in the future. It was this release that seemed to suggest Grand Theft Auto 6 is on its way and on its way fast.
The report showed excitement for the upcoming years with “Fiscal 2025 is a highly anticipated year for our Company”. It should be noted that fiscal 2025 will begin in April 2024. A projected $8 billion compared to this year’s $5.3 billion suggests a future project that is expected to bring in the company a large amount of money. GTA 5 is the best-selling game of all time, still selling up to 5 million each quarter.
This predicted incoming bump in profits could definitely be due to its sequel, which was confirmed to be in development last year, being ready to hit the shelves. To nearly double their previous year’s profits in a year with two high-profile acquisitions whatever is in their “incredibly robust pipeline of projects” in the coming years must be a very big release.
Of course, Take-Two could just be planning some more large acquisitions in order to reach this projected $8 billion, but the 2026 predictions appear to all but confirm these rumours. With even higher expected takings for 2026, it would appear that, like GTA 5 before it, it will have a GTA Online mode released in the following year.
I’m sure we are all hopeful that GTA 6 is on its way sooner than expected, and with the 10-year anniversary of GTA 5 just around the corner, it seems like the perfect time for an announcement.
