Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming to multiple platforms thanks to an FTC leak.
There truly is no game like Rockstar’s wild-west cowboy game, Red Dead Redemption 2, a game that is critically acclaimed for its engaging narrative and breathtaking visuals. Thanks to a recent FTC leak, both fans and players alike will be glad to know that the rooting-tooting cowboy game will be arriving on new current-gen consoles. This is probably the best news about the game, considering the abysmal treatment by Rockstar for its online sister title, Red Dead Redemption Online, which recently lost support by Rockstar despite fans desperate pleas.
To say things have been rough for the Red Dead Redemption franchise would be a serious understatement, it would seem that fans’ general sentiment towards Rockstar has definitely soured, not just for the company dropping support for Red Dead Redemption Online but also for the completely disastrous release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition back in 2021. The company also added a $50 price tag to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch port of the original Red Dead Redemption game, which was originally released in 2010. Thankfully, there seems to be some good news on the horizon.
Back in May of 2022, there was a massive FTC Leak, during this leak we learned a lot of things, such as many of Xbox’s plans for the next few years but also that there were plans for Red Dead Redemption 2 becoming available on current generation consoles, such as a native release of the Xbox Series X/S as well as a release on the PS5. The Xbox Series X/S release is predicted to happen sometime between January and March of 2024. However, we currently don’t have an estimated release for the PS5 version. The document that was leaked, on Reddit.com lists multiple games that would possibly be released on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
If Rockstar intends on going through with a Game Pass deal, it would most likely be a very similar situation to how Xbox handled the current gen ports of Grand Theft Auto V. However, it isn’t very clear if this release will be backwards compatible or will require players to repurchase the game again. The current gen port of Red Dead Redemption 2 is very exciting news, though it is speculated to have something to do with the release of Red Dead Redemption 3, which is rumored to be in the works and is expected to be released shortly after the release of the highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto VI.
