Capcom Confirms that the classic Nintendo DS Game, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, will be receiving an HD Remaster.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective, which was originally released on the Nintendo DS by Capcom, is finally receiving an HD Remaster later this year. The announcement was made during this year’s Nintendo Direct. This follows a trend set by Capcom of focusing more on their smaller IPs.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was created by Shu Takumi, who is the creator of the Ace Attorney series, and was released in Japan in 2010. The game follows Sissel, a man who, after being murdered, uses his new ghostly abilities to solve the mystery surrounding his untimely death. The game was a critical success and won multiple “Best Nintendo DS Game of the Year” awards, despite this, the game didn’t succeed financially, and thus never received a sequel.
However, that wasn’t the last we heard of the game as it also received a mobile port, but that was sadly short-lived and was later delisted. Besides the mobile port the game wasn’t made available on any other platforms until now as the HD remaster of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective will be available on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this Summer.
While we currently don’t know much about the remaster, we do know that the Split Screen Mechanics of the Nintendo DS will be adjusted to work on single screens. The 2D art style will also be remastered to give the game a more modern look.
The remaster of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective shows that Capcom is giving some of their less-known IPs some much-needed love. Along with the Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective remaster we will also be receiving a new Detective Layton game.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective HD remaster will be released later in the summer of 2023.
