Final Fantasy 14 director wants to avoid another Endwalker release delay situation.
Final Fantasy 14 Producer Naoki Yoshida clarified the reason that there has been no firmer release date for the new expansion Dawntrail other than in the summer of 2024. The Producer goes on to point out that he feels more comfortable not having given a more accurate date than having given one and having to delay it, which was the case for the expansion titled Endwalker.
Given the game’s popularity and continued support of fans, fans were expecting to hear the release date during the Japanese Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest 2024 as it had become somewhat of a tradition; however, fans were left without an exact date.
On a livestream, Yoshida had stated that “given that this is… fan fest, you’re probably expecting us to announce the release date of Dawntrail,” further stating that “unfortunately, though we do have an internal date that we are targeting, we are adjusting the schedule on making sure it’s fine-tuned as much as it possibly can be before announcing so we will not be sharing that today.”
Yoshida continued to explain to confused fans by further adding, “If you are wondering why, well, it’s because, as you know, for Endwalker, for the very first time in my career, we had to delay the release. We don’t want that to happen again, even if it’s just a few weeks. So we are taking great care to make sure our schedule is on track before announcing, but we will get you that info as soon as we can,” finishing with “it will be summer,”
While stated, “We said in Final Fantasy 16 we were gonna release it in summer, and it came out in June. We will not be releasing on Square Enix time; we will be releasing on 14 time which means properly in summer.” although Square Enix has been in gaming news for all sorts of reasons, both good and bad. However, the delay on Endwalker really did Rubbed Final Fantasy 14 Producer, Naoki Yoshida the wrong way, leading him to make this decision.
Overall, the new expansion, Dawntrail and all that comes with it, is coming in “summer” and fans have to wait with bated breath for its release. Although this is a safe route to take, making sure everything works well should be the first priority, furthermore keeping up popularity as so many great prior Final Fantasy‘s had before it.
