As a long serving FIFA player, this story may or may not be a shock to you, but you have definitely read that title correctly. National body FIFA, has finally ended their long serving partnership with gaming developer Electronic Arts, also known as EA. This news met with mixed emotions, as some people are shocked, whereas others are sort of happy as they haven’t been pleased with FIFA games over recent years.
The governing body had released a statement on this, saying “FIFA is excited about the future of gaming and esports for football. however, it is clear that this needs to be occupied by more than one party to be controlling all rights. Mobile companies and technology as a whole are now actively competing with each other, in order to be associated with FIFA, its platforms, and as well as our global tournaments. FIFA has been engaging with many other industry players. Which also includes developer, investors and analysts, which a goal to build a long-term view of the gaming, esports and interactive entertainment sector.”
