Another year and another exciting Nintendo Direct, which could be coming a lot sooner than expected.
It’s safe to say with everything going on in the gaming industry, it’s always nice to look forward to the Nintendo Direct, which the gaming giant has confirmed will be taking place in the next few days. The February 2024 Nintendo Direct will be taking place on Wednesday, 21 February 2024 at 9AM EST. The main focus of this Direct will not be on Nintendo’s own first party titles but rather its third-party titles coming to the Nintendo Switch.
For quite some time, fans have been speculating when Nintendo will finally announce the date for its Nintendo Direct. To the surprise of many, the announcement of the Direct came only two days after many of Nintendo’s social media, such as the company’s official Twitter shared information surrounding the upcoming Partner Showcase. The suddenness of the announcement has caused many fans to speculate it was due to the Xbox Podcast, which was aired on 8 February 2024, which said that many of Microsoft’s IPs would appear on other hardware, which many suspect to mean the Nintendo Switch or its yet to be announced successor.
As stated earlier, the upcoming Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase will be going live at 9AM EST and will be around 25 minutes in length. This showcase will allow other developers who are releasing games for the Nintendo Switch to show off some of their upcoming titles which are set to be released sometime during the first half of 2024. One of the most notable titles seems to be Penny’s Big Breakaway, a 3D platformer by Private Division, the same studio behind the Kerbal Space Program series.
For those of you who are a bit disappointed that the Nintendo Direct will only be focusing on third-party IPs and not other titles such as Metroid Prime 4, Mario vs. Donkey Kong, and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, based on a financial report from Nintendo, we will most likely hear about these titles later this year.
