Long after being announced, the Fallout 4 title received a major update that players have been waiting a long time for.
On the heels of the TV show’s release, Bethesda Game Studios has released a major Fallout 4 update, many months after it was announced. With this long-awaited update comes a number of things, from graphics fixes to the inclusion of a new faction and new power armor sets.
Taking place a little over 200 years after what we know as “The Great War,” we meet many colorful characters as the Vault 111 survivor. Fallout 4 is the first installment in the series to feature settlements. This ‘feature’ allows players to build settlements for NPCs they can recruit for later skirmishes. Provided there are enough defenses in any given settlement, it’s a great way to farm items to sell for caps. With this new update, comes a few new Halloween-themed
Despite the negative things people might say, it still maintains a faithful player base even with its larger flaws. With many people still playing and enjoying this installment in the series, it makes sense to throw in a couple of updates. It is best mentioning improvements in the graphics department first. Quality and Performance Mode, the graphic updates to this installment, will allow for players to choose between two graphic settings. Treat yourself to the crisp lines and color of 4k resolution or smoothness of a game running at 60FPS.
There is also the inclusion of a faction known as The Enclave. Mentioned only by name previously in Fallout 2 and later in Fallout 4, players will now have the opportunity to face off against members of the faction. In addition to the Enclave being added, coming along with them will be Enclave weapon and armor skins. Previously available only through the Creation Club, there are a number of items being added to the main game as well. Now available should be the Tesla Cannon, the Incinerator, Hellfire Power Armor, and X-02 Power Armor.
It’s great that the update brings so many new things to Fallout 4. But it has lead to a few problems in related areas. Some users on social media have reported odd glitches, like some settlements being stripped bare, as if nothing had ever been built. The London Mod, available through Creation Club, was set to release just a few days before the major game update. However, because the creators of the mod are afraid it won’t mesh well with the new update, its release has been pushed back indefinitely.
The ‘new-gen’ update brings quality of life fixes to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game. And when you’re looking to take a break from the video game series, be sure to check out the Fallout TV series on Prime Video.
