The biggest fighting game tournament, Evo 2023, promises to implode your weekend.
Evo 2023 has arrived. Attention, all fighting game fans. What we’ve been waiting for is finally here, and it’s a blessing to be alive and to witness this time. The biggest fighting tournament has returned, and it’s expected to be the biggest ever. That’s right, ladies and gentlemen, Evo 2023 is here, and there’ll be nothing but fighting gaming for the whole weekend.
You read that correctly: from August 4-6, 2023, the fighting game community will experience the most immense competition ever in Sin City, Las Vegas, Nevada. But on top of all of that, we are all going to have nothing but fun. We also get to see our favorite fighting gaming content creators. What’s not to love?
Do you know what it also means for Evo 2023? The latest fighting game, Street Fighter 6, will also be involved. Some of your most established champions, as well as newbies, will be here to make a name for themselves and let the FGC fans know how they get down. And Evo 2023’s lineup is tastier than ever.
Here’s another surprise: Mortal Kombat 1 won’t make it to the lineup for obvious reasons. However, you can still get the chance to play the game at the event, so you’d be playing Mortal Kombat 1 at the event, as well as the beta that releases in just a couple of weeks. The same goes for Tekken 8, where you can get the chance to play from August 4-5. Now, without further ado, here is the following fighting game lineup.
Evo 2023 lineup:
- Street Fighter 6
- Tekken 7
- Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate
- The King of Fighters XV
- Melty Blood: Type Lumina
- Guilty Gear Strive
- Dragon Ball FighterZ
- Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3
If you’re one of those who’ll be participating at Evo 2023, pay attention because you need to know that each fighting game has its own set of rules, which you can find all you need to know at the event rules section on the official website. However, the general rules apply to all players in any of the games above.
Core general rules:
- You must bring your own controller, whether it be a D-pad, fight stick, or other type. Evo is a BYOC (Bring Your Controller) event.
- Players who use the ‘random select’ option to select a character must select the same option after winning a match.
- Sixty seconds are permitted between games in a set.
- Brook converters are allowed.
- Any player who pauses during a match (even by accident) is subject to a round forfeit or possibly the game.
- Titus One and Cronus Max Plus converters are banned.
- Hardware programmable input entry, modifiers, rapid-fire, macros, or any other hardware-assisted mechanisms are strictly prohibited.
- All macros available that include the in-game controller configuration menu are permitted.
- All the games mentioned above will be played on the default settings (unless otherwise specified)
If you’re watching the event, whether you’re at the event itself or at home, Evo 2023 has released a schedule for you to look over and stay tuned.
