This September’s Nintendo Direct continues to impress with its family friendly titles.
As is a yearly tradition for every September now, this Nintendo Direct arrived with some much-needed news for the Switch’s winter and beyond lineup of games to close out 2023 on a high note. Following out June’s Not-E3 slew of announcements from the other behemoths in the game industry such as Xbox, Ubisoft, and Capcom, Nintendo came in last announcing a new Princess Peach game, along with a remaster of Luigi’s Mansion Dark Moon and a remake of Super Mario RPG.
This year has seen the release of some genre-defining titles such as Baldur’s Gate 3, Starfield, and Tears of the Kingdom, and yet Nintendo with the rumors of a Nintendo Switch 2 on the horizon seems to not slow down with its current lineup of upcoming games. As we can see, Mario as Nintendo’s official mascot is still going strong as the last announcement of today’s Nintendo Direct was a remake of the acclaimed GameCube title Paper Mario: A Thousand Year Door, which fans of the series have been clamoring for a return for many years now. It seems like eager Nintendo followers will have to wait even longer if ever for a new Nintendogs, Star Fox, or that hopeful remaster of The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker and Twilight Princess. But if anything, while Nintendo still holds some heavy hitters close to its chest, it’s keeping its reign as a family favorite for the foreseeable future.
