The fight with Apple was just the beginning—Epic Games’ mobile store is here to stay.
For most people, Fortnite is what they think of first when the Epic Games launcher is mentioned, but for me, it is their behemoth-hunting Dauntless title. Before the pandemic, I had little to no clue about their medium until my brother begged me to kill time by playing that game with him. Now, I am writing about an intriguing piece of information that has just come to my attention from Epic Games: the mobile storefront for launcher has been made available for use on both iOS and Android devices.
We are all aware of the events surrounding the Epic Games vs. Apple lawsuit. During that period, the two companies engaged in an explosion of legal disputes about Epic Games’ ability to sell the infamous battle-royale game of Fortnite and include microtransactions in the game. The Apple Store was iOS’ preferred method of payment since it allowed them to keep a larger portion of the profits. So, they took the matter to court.
As a result of years of litigation between Epic Games and Apple and legal developments brought about by the European Union’s Digital Markets Act, Apple was compelled to let other app stores open and led the launch to commence officially. This means that it is, indeed, possible for you to go ahead and get the application right now if you are a fan of Epic Games’ content.
We have also heard Xbox is considering this, and hence, it is important as they will be able to benefit from this when developing their Xbox mobile store. From what I could gather, they are currently doing tests on their mobile app. Think about Call of Duty Mobile. If you can keep that game in the Xbox shop and then make the stores available on Apple phones and tablets, a lot of people will download it and be right in the Xbox atmosphere.
As a result, a variety of mobile launchers will soon be available, just as they are on the PC. There will come a day when you will be able to play AAA games on your mobile device using your phone. Consequently, it is something that will most likely be included in all of this once it achieves its growth and becomes greater in scope.
I look rather forward to it. I have not played an Epic Games game with my brother since the pandemic era calmed down, and I miss those times. It may sound lazy, but sometimes, the idea of setting up my PC to play games sounds tiresome, and I end up taking a nap. If I can access more games through my phone, like mentioned, I may be playing more games than I ever have; who knows?
