More than 800 employees urge the publisher to take “immediate” remedial action.
If you’ve been keeping up with the news when it first broke earlier this month, you’ll recognize that the business dismissed claims that it created a “frat boy” working culture, stating that the complaint contained “distorted, and in many cases inaccurate representations of Blizzard’s past.” Now Activision Blizzard employees are urging the firm to release a fresh statement on the matter to the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing’s complaint (DFEH).
Well over 800 Activision Blizzard workers claim the company’s statement was “abhorrent and disrespectful,” and they’re seeking “immediate” corrective action from the management team. The letter says that categorizing the allegations as “distorted, and in many cases, untrue,” “creates a workplace culture that disbelieves victims.” Bloomberg’s Jason Schreier reported that some employees were raging so badly.
The letter’s signatories are urging Townsend to resign as executive sponsor of the ABK Employee Women’s Network. After the news surfaced, the group especially mentions the statement issued to workers by Frances Townsend, the publisher’s senior vice president of corporate affairs. According to reports, the letter arrives after Activision Blizzard conducted an ‘all-hands meeting with 500 workers. The Zoom call was scheduled to include everyone in the studio, but due to a scheduling issue, not everyone was able to attend. According to Uppercut, the firm will have a second meeting tomorrow.
“We don’t broadcast all of these claims,” Taub allegedly stated. “We deal with the employee and the individual who is charged and attempt to work on a resolution.”
