Bioware kicked off Dragon Age Day celebrations by revealing an in-game cinematic from Dragon Age: Dreadwolf.
It has been eight years since the release of Dragon Age: Inquisition and players have been begging for more infor regarding the future of the series in Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The next game in this infamous series was established with the final DLC of Inquisition showing various details about Solas and more.
We have received numerous teasers regarding the game, but this teaser is the largest. It was officially posted jointly by both the official Dragon Age and Bioware twitter accounts:
The trailer once again contains the silky voice of Brian Bloom as the suave Dwarven Rogue Varric (A character from both Dragon Age 2 and Dragon Age: Inquisition) We have heard his voice in previous trailers of the past. In this clip however, this seems to be establishing the world, most likely at the start of the game.
“I knew him as Solas, a thoughtful mage obsessed with dreams, but long ago, he had a different name – Fen’Harel, the Dread Wolf,” Varric narrates. “Ancient Elven God of Lies or heroic rebel against tyranny, depending on which story you believe. In his final fight with the Elven Gods, Solas imprisoned them and created a veil that split our world from the raw magic of the fade. But now, he wants to tear down that veil and destroy the world, and we’re the only ones who can stop him.”
The trailer shows off some incredible art with everyone’s favourite elven betrayer Solas standing right in the middle as he attempts to ‘tear down that veil’. While it may not be what many were hopeful for, this is really establishing the tone and hopes for Dreadwolf, particularly in conjunction with the other trailers.
In addition to this, Dragon Age day was not simply a day for the game, in fact far from it. Bioware also announced that in January a new 4-issue comic series featuring Varric and Scout Lace Harding is coming, it is a prequel story to the upcoming game.
There were also many posters featuring characters from the upcoming animated show Dragon Age: Absolution which will be on Netflix for everyone to enjoy on December 9th. Overall, it has been quite a hefty Dragon Age day and with the game awards around the corner, it’s entirely possible that we could see more, but all we can do at this time is wait and see.
