Gameplay footage of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has leaked and fans are not happy with what they are seeing.
It seems that BioWare, the developers of Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, has joined a list of game developers that have suffered leaks. The leak shows over 20 minutes of gameplay footage from an alpha version of the game. Sadly, the reception has not been good as many fans of the series are not happy with what they see.
Dragon Age: Dreadwolf has had a long, troubled development. The fourth installment of the Dragon Age series had originally started development all the way back in 2015. The project has seen near constant interruption during its development, especially as the company struggled with a project codenamed “Joplin”, which would be shelved in 2017.
The Dragon Age: Dreadwolf footage was initially posted on Reddit, where it was quickly removed but this didn’t stop the leak from being reposted multiple times across the internet. In the footage we see a warrior player fight against a darkspawn horde. The UI we see in the footage seems to be similar to that of Dragon Age: Inquisition. Also, in the post we learn the player is an elf and is playing the “Knight” class, and is accompanied by two party members known as Rook and Darvin, while exploring the Weisshaupt area.
The gameplay seems to be in real time with hardly any party management and seems to be inspired by games such as God of War (2018). The poster went on to say that the animations are fluid and very responsive and have been greatly improved. Besides animations, the character’s hair has been described as “glorious” which could be a reference to a running joke about the odd appearance of character’s hair in the Dragon Age series.
However, despite the improved animations and hopefully better hairstyles, many fans lamented the combat, as they felt it is far from what made Dragon Age unique, and many wished that BioWare would bring back combat reminiscent of Dragon Age: Origins, which allowed players to enter a tactics mode where they could give party members direct commands.
The legitimacy of the leak has yet to be confirmed, so many should take it with a grain of salt. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf is currently still in development and no expected release date has been announced.
