With all the focus put on its other titles, Ubisoft has announced The Division 3.
Despite all the attention being on Ubisoft’s stealth-based Assassin’s Creed Mirage, it might surprise you to learn that Ubisoft has also announced Tom Clancy’s The Division will be receiving its third entry in the form of, The Division 3. The Division series is one of the developer’s most highly praised franchises, to this day, the games have earned themselves a large cult following, so it is exciting to hear that we will be receiving another entry.
Both Tom Clancy’s The Division and its 2019 sequel, The Division 2, take place in a post-apocalyptic version of the United States, which has been ravaged by a rapid and strange virus known as Dollar Flu. The virus itself is a man-made mutation of the smallpox virus and this new mutant virus has wiped out most of the country’s population.
The virus first broke out in New York City and spread up towards Washington DC. Both The Division and its sequel have received high praise from both gamers and critics alike, particularly for its phenomenal writing and narrative, as well as its grim setting that shows a desolate version of the US.
Now, the announcement for The Division 3 may come as a surprise to many but for those of you who are getting a strange feeling of déjà vu, that’s probably because the announcement was leaked earlier this year that The Division 3 was currently in the works by Ubisoft.
However, we finally had an official announcement, though it was a bit underwhelming, it was still an announcement nonetheless. The announcement was made in a post that was shared on the official Massive Entertainment Twitter Page, where it is also revealed that Julian Gerighty has been appointed the Executive Producer role for the project and The Division franchise as a whole.
While this has definitely been an exciting announcement, it isn’t the only The Division based project to be in the works. In a shared statement from Ubisoft, it was also revealed that one of the spin-offs would be a survival shooter known as The Division Heartland. One of the other projects mentioned is The Division Resurgence, which is a mobile game. If you are worried that the mobile game will not be up to scratch, especially considering the notoriety of such titles, fans will the glad to know that during its multiple closed betas, The Division Resurgence has received many positive reviews so far.
