The Willy Wonka event inspired some people to recreate the experience in their favorite games.
Inspired by the Willy Wonka event that happened in Scotland, gamers went on to recreate the barren experience in their favorite games such as Animal Crossing New Horizons and Far Cry 5, both received hilarious renditions of the disastrous event.
Drawing in customers with a misleading AI generated advertising, the recreation of Roald Dahl’s magical world turned out to be a threadbare experience with a lone Oompa-Loompa giving out jellybeans to children and The Unknown, then jumping out to scare them silly.
Probably motivated by the success of the Wonka films released in December 2023, the event in Glasgow has managed to remain an active topic on social media since the end of February and has even begun getting fun recreations in video games.
Twitter user, Haztecamarera, first posted their Animal Crossing: New Horizons version featuring a funny thread that includes the roped-off tapestry, with the Yellow bear sitting in the middle of the floor, alongside a short video of the unknown (a non-existent character made up by AI) emoting behind a mirror.
Many other gamers seem to be also jumping on the trend, with one person using Far Cry 5’s versatile map editor to re-create their rendition of the Glasgow Willy Wonka Experience. Reddit user, mojoswoptops2020’s, version captures the emptiness of the $40 event, even getting details such as the pipes sticking out the floor in random locations alongside the green-haired Oompa-Loompa standing behind a gray desk, with beakers on it and a few other things reminiscent of the event.
No one knows how much longer the Glasgow Willy Wonka experience will stay a trending topic on social media, however, gamers seem to be having tons of fun with it making meme-worthy images and short videos of the event, still sparking popularity that seems to still be growing.
