A rather big surprise, but Death Stranding 2 was announced featuring a star-studded cast alongside the weird and wonderful weavings of Kojima’s narrative.
Death Stranding was one of the more divisive games when it released. While many praised it for it’s complex plot and stellar dialogue while also complimenting the rigorous world map, others were not so thrilled. Some claimed the game was dull and boring, offering very little to players. Regardless of whether you enjoyed the game or not, the announcement still came as a shock.
Despite how well Death Stranding actually did, it still was surprising to see Hideo Kojima and Kojima Productions at The Game Awards 2022 revealing the next step of this franchise with Death Stranding 2 (which is still under a working title). See the full trailer below:
It is one of the many announcements made at the game awards including Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon.
The trailer for Death Stranding 2 shows off… Both nothing and everything in classic Kojima fashion. We see mostly familiar faces with Lea Seydoux as Fragile as she is carrying a toddler whilst being hunted. We also see Norman Reedus make his return, though he looks quite different with the character sporting a ‘Dante-esque’ white beard.
Another surprise is that the game features the singing voice of one Troy Baker, who was in the previous Death Stranding game as Higgs. Does this mean Higgs is back? This is more difficult to say, particularly when at the end of the game we see a man with a guitar who and the trailer cuts before seeing his face.
We also know from previous announcements from Kojima and the end of this trailer that both Elle Fanning and Shioli Kutsuna will both be present in this game, to what end we still cannot say. There is no information regarding a release date as of yet.
