Days Gone Remastered Brings Massive Visual and Gameplay Upgrades to PS5
With Days Gone Remastered, Bend Studio is giving its post-apocalyptic open-world game a fresh start in life, and fans of the original game have a lot to look forward to. The studio just revealed new information in a PlayStation Blog, outlining significant improvements coming to the PS5 version, including a brand-new gameplay mode that could steal the show as promotion for the remaster picks up speed.
In an interview on the PlayStation Blog, Kevin McAllister, Creative and Product Lead at Bend Studio detailed how Days Gone Remastered is taking advantage of the PS5’s power. Among the standout enhancements are improved lighting, deeper shadows, and more atmospheric effects. Nighttime environments in the Remastered will now appear darker and more ominous, while natural elements like moonlight and blue skies are rendered more realistically than ever.
As players ride through the game’s Pacific Northwest landscape, these changes are meant to increase immersion and provide a richer, more dramatic experience. Although the visual improvements are a big attraction, the brand-new Horde Assault mode is the main attraction. With up to 800 freakers at once, this chaotic, action-packed mode in Days Gone Remastered is meant to test players’ limits.

This is a big increase over the 500 freakers at the old Sawmill in the original game. Horde Assault provides players with all the necessary equipment right away, including a completely customized motorbike, top-tier weapons, and instant access to the open-world action. It’s made to be easy for beginners to learn while also providing experts with a challenging and exciting experience.
Thanks to these changes, Days Gone Remastered feels like more than just a visual update. This expanded and refined version of a cult favorite provides an even more dramatic introduction for newcomers and new reasons for fans to return. Whether you’re going back for the emotional tale and open-world adventure or jumping in just to face down 800 freakers at once, Days Gone Remastered looks like it’s meant to be an outstanding re-release on the PS5.
