Supermassive Games, the developers of Dark Pictures: Switchback VR, have announced that the release date has been pushed back.
It seems that fans of Supermassive Games’ Dark Pictures Anthology will have to wait a little bit longer as the release of Dark Pictures: Switchback VR has been delayed. The on-rail VR title, which was originally going to be released in February 2023, has been pushed back, but for good reason. The developers have announced that they’ll be using this time to improve the game and ensure that they give players a streamlined horror experience that they won’t forget.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Supermassive Games, they are the developers behind the Dark Pictures Anthology, a series of terrifying interactive horror movies that are known for being both incredibly cinematic and incredibly brutal. The series began in 2019 and has been one of the developer’s most successful titles. The latest entry into the Dark Pictures Anthology is Dark Pictures: The Devil In Me, which was a chilling and bloody finale for season one of the anthology.
Dark Pictures: Switchback VR is an on rail shooter spin-off that will take players through 5 terror-filled branching rollercoaster routes and the game has been described as being the developers “most ambitious VR project to date.” The game will be coming out in March 2023 instead of its original February release date as a launch title for the new Playstation VR 2 headset, the successor to the PSVR headset that originally came out in 2016.
Supermassive Games has, so far, released games of a consistent quality with regards to their Dark Pictures Anthology series and now with Switchback VR having a bit more time for the developers to refine and fine tune the game, the on-rail spin-off will most likely continue this trend. Though they’ll have to wait a bit longer, fans will be able to play DarkPictures: Switchback VR on PSVR2 when it releases on 16 March 2023. Provided there aren’t any more delays.
