Despite games like Stardew Valley looking at physical releases on the console, the Nintendo Switch is doing quite well for independent players. The most recent release on the switch is the Action RPG CrossCode. CrossCode is influenced by SNES RPGs that mimic classics like Mana ‘s secret with a combat style, but modernize them for contemporary tastes. This tells the story of Lea, a girl who has become forgetful and must play MMORPG called “CrossWorlds” to regain certain memories. The game in a house is a relatively common anime trope, but a little rarer in video games.
Since it first released on Steam in 2018, CrossCode gained received a second wave of recognition for this month’s console update. In addition, on Switch, PC, and PS4, the game is physically released. The SteelBook Edition features a reversible cover, a card along with a manual, and, of course, a steel book. All posts, along with a hardcover box, a 2-disk soundtrack, the book “CrossCode Compendium,” stickers, poster, and a keychain, are included.
CrossCode is available on PS4, Steam, Switch and Xbox One.
