These classic Transformers games will be cross-platform, according to Microsoft’s multi-platform strategy.
Remember how exciting it was to play the original Marvel video games? Activision was the studio responsible for developing several beloved Marvel and Transformers superhero video games. Now, rumor has it that Activision and Marvel are in discussions to bring back some of those games in addition to the Transformer series. After a prolonged absence due to licensing issues, the much-anticipated return of beloved classic Marvel games is on the horizon, and this rumor has sparked excitement among fans.
Among the extensive list of planned projects, which includes Marvel Rivals and Iron Man, a massive new update that was released last night appears to have just verified speculations that vintage Marvel games will be returning. It would seem that the vintage Transformer video games, including Transformers: War for Cybertron, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Transformers: Rise of the Dark Spark, and Transformers: Devastation, have been relisted under their respective digital shops.
However, Activision did not sell these games in the digital stores after they lost their license. People who wanted them but couldn’t get their hands on them had to resort to buying physical versions on sites like Amazon for outrageous prices.
Although the games aren’t actually on sale just yet, Activision appeared to have received approval from Xbox to pursue licensing for them again after making an unexpected return to the shops. With Microsoft’s multi-platform approach and possible licensing deals, fans are hoping that they will soon be available on all major platforms.
Then, word leaked out from insiders saying that Activision was in talks with Marvel to revive some of those games alongside the Transformer titles. The two Marvel games in question were Deadpool and Ultimate Alliance. Although no significant announcements regarding the comeback of these classic titles were made during any of the Xbox showcases, their appearance on the digital store again did provide fans hope that they would ultimately make an appearance.
That’s correct. A number of Activision’s superhero titles received simultaneous Steam updates last night, leading some to speculate that the publisher is getting ready for an official launch after a deal has been signed. In particular, the games that were included were Transformers Devastation, War for Cybertron, Fall of Cybertron, Deadpool, Spider-Man Shattered Dimensions, Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2, and Deadpool.
Although Activision has not made any official announcements regarding the highly anticipated superhero games, this is fantastic news for fans eager to get their hands on them. According to Microsoft’s multi-platform strategy and the associated license expenses, these games should be playable on all platforms.
