Colossal Order is very strict about bringing stability to Cities: Skylines 2, until then, no paid content will be released.
Cities: Skylines 2, the sequel to the ever-so-successful city-building game, had both good and bad reception after its release. While some praised for its renovation portrayed in the first game, the rest complained about the issues that kept popping up during the gameplay. For the unaware, most people thought the developers would eventually tidy up the game to run smoother on the newer hardware, but the opposite occurred once people with beefy computers tried to run the game.
According to some sources, the game did not take the consideration different LOD allocations, making it render in full detail, doesn’t matter how far you were from the item, the building, or a single citizen. The avid player base of the game even came up with a conclusion, finding out that every citizen’s teeth were rendered at all times, causing a huge load on the engine. Colossal Order later admitted that the game ran very poorly, however, this was not tied to the rendering nor the LOD problems as people thought. The problem lay within the code and they announced that they were working on a fix to make the game run better than the launch day.
The day the update dropped, many people were happy that some of the problems vanished, but a lot of people were still having stutters and slowdowns during different camera angles while watching their own city. In order to fix the problems related to running the game and making Cities: Skylines 2 as polished as possible, CEO of Colossal Order, Mariina Hallikainen said they require heavy feedback from the players that will immensely help during the title’s post-developmental stage.
Hallikainen also forwarded that they are currently working on fixing bugs that break the gameplay and give a hard time to players while they are trying to handle their city’s serenity level. Until all of the problems are fixed through and through, the Colossal Orders stated they will not be adding a paid DLC to the title. At least it is great to know that they got their priorities straight.
