Studio BLANK. is founded by former members of CDPR, including Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3’s Director.
BLANK., a new game studio founded by industry veterans who have worked on games like The Witcher series and Cyberpunk 2077, opened its doors on May 31. The new team plans to deliver elegantly produced games and fresh experiences by using their years of knowledge to a blank slate and focusing on exploring uncharted areas rather than rehashing old ideas (in other words, no clones or predictable entries). In conjunction with the studio’s announcement, the creators of BLANK. unveiled concept art for the studio’s secret project, a character-driven apocalyptic game with a few twists.
Mateusz Kanik (CDPR) is on board as the company’s Game Director, Jdrzej Mróz (CDPR) and Marcin Jefimow (CDPR, 11 Bit Studios) are on board as Executive Producers and Mikoaj Marchewka (Rookiez from Warsaw S.A.) is on board as the company’s Managing Director. The founders have assembled a talented team of programmers, including CD Projekt RED alumni Michal Dobrowolski (Design Director), Artur Ganszyniec (Narrative Director; CDPR, 11 Bit Studios), and Grzegorz Przyby (Art Director; Division 48 Studio, Artificer).

After years of working in an increasingly conservative field, we are prepared to develop innovative, far-reaching works that reflect our individuality and the principles we hold dear. In a field that often celebrates the tyranny of the creative person, we want to cede control to the collective. We value work-life balance over the crunch culture prevalent in our field. We’re aiming for highly polished games emphasizing emotion, story, and craftsmanship in a space where the industry thinks bigger is better, added Kanik.”
Having a chat about how Blank came to be. Blank Co-Founder and Executive Producer Marcin Jefimow made the following statement – “Personal narratives and experiences inspired our approach to game design. Our goal in establishing Blank. is to foster an environment conducive to creative collaboration that respects the past while remaining open to the present and future possibilities. A new endeavor is in the works, and we can’t wait to show it off to gamers and develop it with the help of additional team members.”
Blank Co-Founder and Executive Producer Jdrzej Mróz discussed the company’s strategy for making games and expanding the studio. “Throughout many years in the industry, we’ve learned how crucial it is to have an ambitious vision backed by a solid team and a manageable budget to create a successful video game. We’re dedicated to producing high-quality work while keeping the studio afloat, and we hope to raise the scale of our projects as we grow our staff and resources.”
