We already knew very little about Pragmata, and now Capcom made us even more curious about their latest decision.
Pragmata, Capcom’s new IP without any information behind, was announced a few years ago during their prime time of remaking old Resident Evil titles and working on Resident Evil 8 at the same time. While the project seemed a bit out of the ordinary, it seemed familiar with the humane characters we saw in the trailer. As we said, we clearly got no idea what exactly happened in Pragmata’s announcement trailer, but Capcom sure showed their new way of innovating unique games.
In a recent Capcom Showcase, people remembered that Pragmata is still in development once the cinematic trailer came out of nowhere and reminded people of its existence. In the trailer, the child character, who we think we are going to take care of, is asking whether they are still there yet, and the man in a space suit says they have a lot to go to reach their destination.
It is basically a metaphor for how Pragmata is still in long-time development. After all, Capcom has been pretty much having no time to scratch their heads with their releases lately. They have been working on their staple fighting game series, Street Fighter 6, which gained a lot of popularity during its release week. There is also the ongoing chance of seeing Resident Evil: Code Veronica’s remake as Capcom asked players which remake they should focus on next.
In short, Capcom is too busy to currently work on Pragmata. But how long are we going to wait until it releases? That is a good question, as Capcom does not know when they are exactly going to finish working on it either. So Pragmata is completely and indefinitely delayed until Capcom brings up again with a new trailer or mentions a breakthrough in its development cycle. But so far, all we can get is a cute little cinematic and Capcom telling us to be patient for an upcoming great reward.
There are a lot of speculations about Pragmata’s theme and gameplay. In fact, it is as mysterious as Hideo Kojima’s last project called Death Stranding. People had no idea about Death Stranding as its concept was quite bizarre. Kojima only included characters and scenery during its presentation and obviously, it created an intriguing atmosphere surrounding Death Stranding. Pragmata employs the same tactic with its ambiguity and mysterious feel. We shall wait- hopefully not too much- and see what awaits us in the world Capcom prepared for us.
