Previously, we have already heard rumors of four actively developed games in the Call of Duty franchise.
In the last few days, a dozen inside information regarding future Call of Duty projects has emerged on the Net. And now, at long last, the developers have decided to break radio silence by announcing two new titles in the franchise, which are scheduled to be released this year. The first game is nominally Warzone 2, and the second one is Modern Warfare II. Developers chose not to disclose the official titles of these first-person shooters.
According to official sources, both games are based on the updated version of the MW19 engine. Both sequels are created from scratch to avoid the technical problems of the original game at the code level and fundamental game design flaws. Allegedly, the new Warzone is going to be a bit of an evolution, not just for the series but for the royal battle genre generally.
Concurrently, Activision explicitly recognized that the original Warzone was a “broken” game. But the creators promise that with the start of the new Call of Duty season in just a few days, the game is about to undergo massive changes.
As the developers have noted, the support plan for the original Warzone did not include the content of subsequent games of the series released after 2020, i.e., Cold War and Vanguard. However, the royal battle has become unexpectedly popular, and the studio had to increase the production rate of new content. For the time being, the developers have released so much content that the QA team finds it difficult to understand the cause of the bugs.
Warzone 2 will be created with due regard for future integrations with the subsequent titles in the franchise so that the new content doesn’t break the game.
Both new Call of Duty games are traditionally scheduled to be released in the last quarter of 2022.
