A new Borderlands 4 trailer might be coming soon.
Fans of Borderlands 4 have been waiting for an update since its teaser trailer was released in August at Gamescom 2024. Even though there have been several rumors that the game might get delayed, at The Game Awards 2024, there might be a confirmed game for Jeff Keighley’s award show, and it is none other than Borderlands 4.
To be clear, Keighley has not confirmed anything. Randy Pitchford, CEO of Gearbox Software, hinted on his personal account that he was working on a new Borderlands 4 trailer, and it is badass AF; the latest render is knocking us out. We’re not supposed to talk about it yet, but IDGAF. He went on to tease us even more, revealing that the first frames of this new trailer are the same as the last frames of the teaser trailer, implying that we might finally find out who the mysterious mechanical character holding the psycho mask is.
Of course, how do we know the game will be featured at the Game Awards? There are a few signs of this. First, the game was revealed during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live, another Keighley-hosted show, and we often see returning guests at his events. Second, with a planned release date of 2025, now is a good time to start getting people excited and showing them some actual gameplay. And the Game Awards promises a large audience.
Randy’s use of the term “render” is also significant because, for those unfamiliar with editing terminology, a render is essentially the finished product. So, while they may still want to make some changes, he’s commenting on the entire trailer, not just snippets from editing, implying that it’s nearing completion.
While writing, the suspicion was actually confirmed, as the Gearbox social media accounts shared Randy’s post mentioning that a new trailer was coming soon. We really hope to see the game there.
