Three Bayonetta games are rumored to be set to releasing on Nintendo’s upcoming console, the Switch 2.
The Nintendo Switch is arguably one of the most successful console releases in recent years, and the word “soon to be successful” has been on almost every Switch fan’s tongue. According to a new rumor, we may know which games are coming to the Nintendo Switch 2, and none other than enhanced versions of the iconic Bayonetta trilogy.
The original Bayonetta game was developed by Platinum Games and was initially released on the PS3 and Xbox 360. The games follow none other than the titular Umbran witch as she fights against the divine forces of heaven to uncover the truth of the past. Sadly, despite the game garnering a loyal fan base, it did not perform as well as Platinum Games wanted, but hope wasn’t lost. Nintendo took an interest in the game and even funded sequels such as Bayonetta 2 for the WiiU and the divisive Bayonetta 3 for Nintendo Switch.
Since the previous games were Nintendo exclusives, it only makes sense that they would be re-released on the new Nintendo console. However, the future of the franchise is uncertain as its original creator, Hideaki Kamiya, is no longer part of Platinum Games.
As with every rumor, especially those related to the yet-to-be-revealed Nintendo Switch 2, take it with a grain of salt, but there may be some legitimacy to the rumor. NWeedle, a leaker who has accurately leaked Nintendo news in the past, was the first to share information on the new rumor. In a tweet, they claim that they believe an enhanced version of this is in the works for the Nintendo Switch 2 with improved graphics and HDR support.
While the rumored enhanced versions are exciting, the fate of the series as a whole is incredibly uncertain, especially with the series creator gone. These concerns are further worsened by some questionable decisions made for Bayonetta 3, which many fans believed dragged the game down compared to its predecessors.
