During the Nintendo Direct Platinum Games revealed new gameplay footage for Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon.
During the Nintendo Direct livestream on 8 February 2023, Nintendo and PlatinumGames showed off some gameplay footage of the Bayonetta prequel, Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon. This footage gives us a glimpse of what we can expect from the gun-wielding Umbran witch’s origin story.
Bayonetta was originally released by PlatinumGames in 2010 and was available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. However, since its sequel in 2014, the series has become a Nintendo exclusive. Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon was officially announced during The Game Awards on 8 December 2022 but a hidden teaser for the game could be seen in Bayonetta 3. The prequel is to offer a very different experience to the stylish hack n’ slash on the mainline series.
During the trailer, the narrator tells us that a young Bayonetta, then known as Cereza, has ventured deep into the Avalon woods in search of her lost mother, but she is not alone. Traveling with Cereza is the cat-like demon, Cheshire. Together, the two of them need to work together to travel into the depths of the forest.
Cereza is far from the gun-wielding, femme fatale she will grow up to be, so Cheshire will have to help her slay the variety of enemies that stand in their way, while she holds them in place with magic. Players of Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon will need to plan strategically and work in tandem if they want to survive the Avalon woods.
Fans of the series will still have to wait a bit as Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon will release exclusively on the Nintendo Switch on 17 March 2023.
