Two incredibly popular games lead in the Bafta Game Awards with 8 nominations, and many others follow close behind at 6.
Bafta has been examining the games industry and awarding developers for their talents since 2004. Alongside other events such as the Game Awards and DICE Awards, these have been the pillars of game awards that reward the developers for all of their hard work.
As many will know, It Takes Two, developed by Hazelight Studios and Written by Josef Fares, has been cleaning house with its game awards. Returnal, developed by Housemarque, is a strong contender at the Bafta Game Awards, and it is curious who will take the ‘gold’ at this ceremony.
In addition to this, it is clear that many SONY exclusive titles have been nominated in numerous categories. Obviously, Returnal is the stand-out so far. However, it is not the only PlayStation title to be nominated in numerous categories. Arkane Studios Deathloop is a stand-out as well, being nominated in 6 categories, including EE Game of the Year. In addition to this, Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart by the remarkable Insomniac Games has also been nominated for a staggering six categories, including Game of the Year.
There are still other games that have found themselves in numerous categories at the Bafta Game Awards. Square Enix’s Guardians of the Galaxy (which is coming to Xbox Game Pass) has also been nominated for 2 categories, Psychonauts 2 developed by Double Fine and published by Xbox has been nominated for 6 categories, rivalling the major SONY titles.
