The developers of Atomic Heart finally reveal a release date and a peek at what the game has in store.
Mundfish has revealed a release date for their action-packed, first-person RPG, Atomic Heart. The game will be releasing on 21 February 2023. Alongside the release date, the new trailer gives us a taste of some of the gameplay we’ll get to experience in Atomic Heart. From fast-paced shooting sequences to exploring its unique Soviet-era world.
Atomic Heart was first announced in 2018 and it puts the player into an alternate version of fifties, post-WW2 Soviet Russia. Many advancements were made in robotics during the 1930s to help the Soviets defeat Nazi Germany. However, the technology that was once beneficial has turned against its creators. It is now up to the player to stop the rogue machines and whatever experiments lie within the robotics facility.
During the trailer, we get some glimpses at the type of gameplay we can expect. This includes the ability to control or manipulate electricity and ice. This, paired with intense first-person shooting reminiscent of games like Bioshock, means that fans of the series will surely enjoy Atomic Heart too. You will face off against both zombie-like mutants and the humanlike robots that roam the facility.
The facility that the player will be exploring is a mix of sleek futuristic design and old Soviet-era retro aesthetics. This gives Atomic Heart’s setting a unique 1950s futurism feel that is both beautiful and uncanny, much like the robots you will face.
Atomic Heart will be releasing on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One and it will be coming to Xbox Game Pass on 21 February 2023.
