Food Fight will be remade later this year, according to Atari.
The game is being created in collaboration with Mega Cat Studios and is one of Atari’s “premium games” revealed recently as part of the company’s new focus. Michael Arzt, COO of Atari VCS, spoke about the cooperation in a news release.
The original game debuted in arcades in 1983, and the new release will bring new visuals, gameplay features, and internet play to the formula. There is no footage of the game available at this time. According to Mega Cat Studios CEO James Deighan, the team intended to take an original Atari game and give gamers something fresh. Players will have 30 goods, weapons, and pick-ups to select from in Food Fight. To keep things seeming new, environments will be procedurally created. It’s unclear if Food Fight will be able to recreate the original’s fun and energy, but it’s hoped that the game will be a fun new spin on the arcade classic.
Next year, Food Fight will be released for the Atari VCS, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC.
