New World has been delayed by Amazon only weeks before its originally planned release date of August 31st.
Following player input gathered during the MMO’s recent closed beta, the firm has chosen to postpone New World once again. The development team claims that the game only requires a bit more polishing time. It will now be released on September 28th, roughly a month later, to allow Amazon Game Studios to polish it, correct problems, and improve stability.
It then pushed back the game’s release date to August 31st, as anticipated, at the start of the year. This is New World’s fourth postponement, for those who are keeping count. Amazon stated that the game will be released in May 2020 when it originally announced it. Its release date was pushed back to August 25th, 2020, before Amazon revealed a month later that the game will be delayed until spring 2021. To say Amazon Game Studios is under pressure to create a success for its parent corporation is an understatement. After taking the unprecedented decision of delaying the release of Crucible, the company’s first AAA product, Amazon announced the game’s first big delay. That game’s development was eventually halted. Andy Jassy assured Amazon workers before taking over as CEO that he was dedicated to the studio.
Now it’s up to the New World team to show that their faith was well-placed.
