The Oscar nominees came out today, with Oppenheimer leading the pack with 13 nominations.
With the Oscar nominations being announced, we can see some similarities to the Golden Globes. Both award shows have nominated Oppenheimer the most. It seems that Oppenheimer might continue its awards sweep with the Oscars. Oppenheimer scored 13 nominations at the Oscars.
Of course, just like every other year, some people thought certain actors and actresses deserved nominations that they did not get. A lot of people seem to be upset that Margot Robbie did not get nominated for her performance in Barbie. She would’ve been nominated for best actress in a comedy or musical. A category that is not always stiff with its competition. A lot of people consider the best actor or actress in the drama category to be the most prestigious. The director of Barbie, Greta Gerwig, did not get nominated for Best Director, which others consider a snub as well.
The Oscars themselves are considered to be the more prestigious of the two massive award shows. Or at least the unspoken most prestigious.
Many people will be expecting certain artists to perform at the Oscars. But this year Ryan Gosling had a song he performed in the Barbie movie called “I’m Just Ken.” Many people want him to perform this number at the Academy Awards Show. This performance also got him nominated for best original song. Barbie also has another nomination for Best Original Song with Billie Eilish’s song, “What Was I Made For?”.
We also saw some different nominations, with Godzilla Minus One getting nominated for best visual effects. Something that many people would not have expected months ago before the film came out. Martin Scorsese has also gotten his 10th nomination for Best Director for Killers Of The Flower Moon which is now a new record.
