Scorsese’s new film, Killers of the Flower Moon debuted with $23 million, but Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour brought in $32 million.
The newest Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio collaboration film, Killers of the Flower Moon, is finally out. The film’s star-studded cast also included Robert De Niro, Brendan Fraser, and Jesse Plemons. De Niro and Scorsese are also known for their classic collaborations. Apple TV bought the film, and it is set to debut on their streaming service later this year. The film was originally set to have a limited theatrical run but now has a full theatrical run. This is the first film by a streaming service to have a full theatrical run before going on streaming.
With the film being over three hours long and an adult-themed movie, it seems to be doing well despite fighting against Taylor Swift’s concert film. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour brought in over $34 million and had its second weekend at the box office. No one expected Killers of the Flower Moon to beat it, but it is nice to see theaters ramping up again.
Like other films, Killers of the Flower Moon suffered due to the SAG actor strike and actors not being able to promote the film. With high-profile names like Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro, it could’ve benefited from a good press run.
Strangely enough, many have been complaining about how the Taylor Swift concert filmgoers have been extremely loud. People seeing films in other rooms are hearing the screaming and yelling of people watching the Taylor Swift concert film. It’s become a social media trend to go to concerts, film, dance, and sing along to all the songs. If this passion continues, Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will continue to break records and make plenty more money.
