Craving for more Action-Adventure games? Well, look no further; these games are on their way to bring the thrill.
This year has been great for action-adventure games; in fact, we already have lots of them in the bag, but what about the games coming in the future? We have the next Grand Theft Auto game to look forward to. What about the games that already had their coverage? Here are the ten action-filled games we look forward to their release in 2024.
Stellar Blade
Developed by the Korean Shift Up, Stellar Blade is a third-person hack-and-slash action-adventure game aimed for a 2023 release. It was last heard about in late 2022; Shift Up hasn’t showcased anything new since then. Even though the formula seems to be the same as any hack-and-slash game on the market, Stellar Blade is determined to be unique amongst its competitors.
The title was being developed for Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5, but it was only for PS5. It will utilize the Dualsense’s haptic feedback, so that is another bonus to look forward to.
Pragmata
Pragmata is Capcom’s latest entry to the action-adventure games genre. It was briefly shown in one of the PlayStation Showcases last year and drew attention quickly. In the trailer, a spaceman is accompanied by a little child, which is enough to pick the interest of the masses. The gameplay nor mechanics haven’t been officially shown yet, but Capcom stated it’s an action game. Although Capcom is a very competent company, they recently announced that the production of Pragmata was halted indefinitely.
This means we might have a very long time before Pragmata is actually in our hands and playable. Still, one can dream about it, right?
Lost Soul Aside
Mixing action adventure with roleplaying mechanics is a great way to improve the quality of the game; this also includes the next game on our list: Lost Soul Aside. If you squint your eyes, it looks like a Final Fantasy game, but the developer is determined to bring a different gameplay style with their currently working title. As we said earlier, it is a roleplaying game mixed with action-packed fights, so we can expect some exciting gameplay.
Lost Soul Aside is currently under development for PlayStation 5 only and has no proper release date; we shall wait and see if it meets expectations.
Rise of the Ronin
Rise of the Ronin is an action-adventure game with fighting filled with Far East themes. It is currently not a new idea in the market, but it has been proved that the formula works well within both Eastern and Western markets, so why not go for it? One thing that puts Rise of the Ronin aside is the open world map that allows players to wander around ancient Japanese towns.
Rise of the Ronin is currently under development, and no release date has been announced yet. However, we expect it to be released sometime during 2024 for the PlayStation 5 only.
Phantom Blade Zero
It’s one of the games on our list that has been anticipated for over a year. With a promising combat style and depressive tones, Phantom Blade Zero plays much like a hack-and-slash game. What people like about Phantom Blade Zero is how fluent the combat style is, and the graphics are generously impressive. It also includes medieval Japanese themes, just like other games on the list, which seems to be a popular thing to do nowadays.
Developer S-GAME hasn’t properly showcased the game’s mechanics since last summer, but we do know the main storyline will take at least 40 hours to finish. It is also being developed for PC and PlayStation 5, so it will include mod support.
Black Myth: Wukong
Based on Chinese mythology, Black Myth: Wukong will deliver a gameplay experience similar to the Dark Souls we all know and love. What is interesting, though, is the heavy emphasis on the lore, which seems to be taken from a legendary novel called Journey to the West. Players will come across fearsome enemies, but the whole focus will be on boss fights, which are evidently said to be mythical creatures from Chinese folklore.
Black Myth: Wukong was shown briefly at Gamescom 2023, and so far, we do not know the actual release date. The developers of Game Science are aiming for a 2024 release. However, it’s unknown which quarter it will be released in. At least we know it will be available for all platforms except Nintendo Switch.
Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert might be one of the games on the list with a detailed developer history, and developers are actively talking about it. With its glorious graphics, Crimson Desert is taking another route instead of focusing on the Souls-like aspect. The title is very similar to what people experienced in the Witcher series. Do not get us wrong, though; Witcher is quite a successful franchise, and people would love to experience another Witcher title, just like Crimson Desert.
The developer Pearl Abyss showcased Crimson Desert at Gamescom 2023 and currently has a dedicated website to showcase their work. As there is a lot to cover, we could easily expect a 2024 release. It will be released on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
Plan 8
Pearl Abyss’ second title on the action-adventure games list, Plan 8, has been developing for a while now. It’s a shame that the title looks promising, with its unique gameplay and dystopian elements of robots being threats to the world. The trailer was released almost four years ago, and their Twitter account hasn’t posted anything since 2020. We haven’t heard anything yet about its current development process, but we can maybe expect to hear about it soon.
Plan 8 was set to be released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, but we all know those platforms are now redundant, so we can say they are planning for a release on the new generation of consoles as well.
Senua’s Saga: Hell Blade II
Unlike other games on our list, Ninja Theory’s Senua’s Saga: Hell Blade II is among those action-adventure games that heavily emphasize the narrative rather than the action. The debut game, Hell Blade, did well on every front and captured the interest of people looking for gameplay similar to that found in the God of War series. Senua’s Saga: Hell Blade II will continue the story of Senua, a female warrior fighting with her inner demons and real-life encounters with enemies.
The title is still in the works and doesn’t have a release date yet, but we are sure it will be released sometime around 2024. It is planned for PC and Xbox Series X|S, and with its high-fidelity graphics, story, and gameplay, it’s a title you should not miss out on.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl
An FPS game that takes the action-adventure games slot is always worth checking out. S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2: Heart of Chernobyl is about, as the name suggests, a world after a nuclear war. Just like the previous iterations, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chernobyl will improve upon the mechanics, such as the looting system, gun fights, story, and even more. As you all know, the ongoing war made it hard for the Ukranian-based developers to work on the title.
Despite the harsh situations, they have relocated and are still working on bringing their game to the market. We are not exactly sure when GSC Game World is planning to release the game, as anything can delay the game even further. Still, we know they want to deliver their beloved title, no matter the cost.
