A list of highly anticipated cozy games for Nintendo Switch from now until the end of 2023.
For Nintendo Switch casual gamers, the first half of 2023 has been a wonderful year with plenty of cozy games to play, apart from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Pikmin 4. And the good news is that the second half of 2023 is shaping up to be even larger and better. So, let’s look at the best cozy games highly anticipated for Nintendo Switch from now until the end of 2023.
Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical
Stray Gods: The Roleplaying Musical, released on Nintendo Switch on August 10, will kick off today’s list of cozy games. I think not nearly enough attention is paid to this fantastic idea. I can’t get over how much I love the idea of an interactive musical where you play a role. The music must be excellent since it’s a musical with audience participation.
Several of the game’s important characters are voiced by actors with critical roles, which has piqued my interest even more. The game’s visual aesthetic is evocative of comic books, but the story—which involves the murder of God and musical numbers—is told entirely through voice acting.
You take on the role of Grace, a woman who is given the gift of joy and uses it to investigate the mysterious murder of her predecessor. In this world populated with Greek deities and monstrosities, it is up to you to decide whom Grace can trust and who might betray her.
You may already be familiar with the Greek gods, but if that isn’t enough, there is also romance. Certainly not the narrative you’ll be a part of. I’m excited to play through a musical in this cozy game, and it’s unlike any other cozy game I’ve played before!
Chants of Sennaar
Chants of Sennaar is among my most anticipated cozy games for Nintendo Switch, which is set to release on September 5, 2023. In the game, you’ll discover that you, as a traveler who can speak all the languages of the Peoples of the Tower, will supposedly come and bring them together.
You’ll engage your senses as you observe, listen, and comprehend ancient languages in an exciting universe based on the tale of Babel. Due to longstanding hostilities, the Tower’s population has stopped communicating with one another. The walls must be broken down, and the Balance must be restored, and that’s where you’ll acquire the insight to do it.
You have to travel to a mythical land where men have lost their history, find themselves in a beautiful, poetic atmosphere, and discover the secrets of this intriguing universe, where ancient languages serve as both the lock and the key as you make your way through the seemingly endless stairs of a colossal labyrinth.
Throughout the game, you’ll learn several ancient languages and set out on an exciting adventure. You’ll delve into a visually stunning and narratively engaging universe that draws inspiration from the tale of Babel. You’ll have to use your senses and brain to figure out the world around you, sneak past the guardians, and explore restricted areas.
The People of the Tower’s ties must be repaired, and deciphering their old languages is the key. Chants of Sennaa will be a unique game unlike any, and I’m excited to see how it pulls through.
The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood
Then, on August 16, The Cosmic Wheel Sisterhood will be here. This is yet another cozy game with a slight twist. It will be available very shortly. This is the Sisterhood of the Cosmic Wheel. Explores themes of self, community, and individual agency via a narrative journey. You take on the role of Fortuna, a witch who has been banished to an asteroid and who, hoping to reclaim her independence, makes a pact with a prohibited creature.
After being sent out for two centuries, you’ll have the chance to reunite with your fellow witches, make new acquaintances, and utilize your divination skills to peer into the lives and futures of everyone you encounter.
Fortuna’s internal struggle to accept her abilities drives the plot of the game, which ultimately determines the future of the society of cosmic witches. This unusual combination of story-focused RPG elements and a traditional card game’s gameplay has caught my eye, and I plan to try it.
Fae Farm
Among the many cozy games, Fae Farm is scheduled for September 8. Since it has only been a little over a month since the release of this game, I won’t linger too much. This makes me very happy.
Even if you didn’t know it, this will be released simultaneously on Switch, PC, and Steam Deck. In Fae Farm, a mystical farming simulation game, you begin by discovering a message in a bottle that transports you to a mysterious realm.
A land in critical need of aid, so you set sail to provide it. After a rough ride, you reach Azoria, a town where magical fairies are just one of many difficulties. To help them figure things out, you’ve decided to settle down and begin a new life. What kept me playing was the excellent combination of farming simulation and role-playing game components.
The game plays out as a farming simulation should, with all the trimmings: seasonal events, locals to romance, crops to maintain, crafts to make, and mystical animals to care for. However, the plot and the objectives you need to perform for it propel the game forward, on top of all these farming Sim daily tasks.
You’ll perform everything from simple fetch missions to exploring dungeons full of mystical monsters, but don’t worry—combat isn’t too difficult, and there are other ways to solve problems in the game.
I’ve always said that one thing I’m looking for in a farming Sim is a purpose to farm, and I feel like this has everything I’m looking for, including the classic RPG element of skills that get leveled up as you go along. After that, there’s Monaco Night.
Mineko’s Night Market
Then there’s Mineko’s Night Market, one of four comforting, cozy games coming out on September 26. That sounds like it’s going to be a crazy day. A lot more farming simulators are coming out in the next few months. Thus, the fact that this one isn’t on the list only makes me more eager to play it.
The protagonist, Nico, is a cat deity who wanders the city, bestowing good fortune and riches upon the deserving. Still, some of the villagers, fueled by their jealousy, drive the cat God away, allowing the town and its people to build their fortunes in the years to come. The cat god soon fades from memory and becomes a myth instead.
And so begins Mineko’s Night Market, in which you take on the role of Mineko as she explores the village in search of rumors of sightings of the cat god. In this endearing tale, which promises to be about friendship, tradition, and a whole lot of cats, as well as a celebration of Japanese culture, you’ll also get to accompany Mineko on her journey across the island and uncover the secrets of a failing town trying to reclaim its former glory.
There may not be any farming, but there appears to be plenty to do between the cat racing shows and the Market side quests. You’ll have to solve puzzles and watch out for hidden agents who might be lurking nearby. There are also many individuals to meet and talk to and opportunities to manufacture and sell anything you find. The art style is beautiful, and the language is funny and clever when it needs to be but also touching and wholesome when it needs to be.
Fashion Dreamer
Fashion Dreamer’s release date is November 3. Last week, Nintendo announced the date with little fanfare on their YouTube channel and Twitter. I am completely clueless about the world of style.
Nonetheless, I look forward to Fashion Dreamer with great anticipation. This game is centered on collaborating with other players, so even if you’re not a fashion prodigy, you may still have a great time dreaming up outfits.
Walking around the Plaza, you’ll encounter several other players you can talk to and “like” on the spot. If you like someone’s outfit, you can buy the items they’re wearing and put them on your avatar; this is similar to the design tool in Animal Crossing, except that it’s much easier to share your creations with people you don’t know. This is great news for people like me who aren’t particularly interested in or knowledgeable about fashion.
The developers showcased this earlier this year, and one of the points they drove home was the importance of creating truly unique garments if you want to stand out from the crowd. It sounds like we can be quite creative with our designs if we want to create a unique ensemble, which is pretty nice if correct.
The fact that I can go out and run around this world, see players with impeccable taste and outfits, and get inspired in real life and not just in the game, has gotten me the most excited about this. This is nothing like the cozy games that have come out so far this year, and I believe it will bring back many fond memories for those who once frequented fashion retailers. In my opinion, it will be a huge success for the public.
Fantasy Life
When exactly Fantasy Life begins on this list is a mystery to us. Honestly, I have no clue what is going on in this game. The summer of 2023 sounds about right for its release. We don’t have the game, we don’t have a release date, and we have received no news about it. I don’t know if it’s because Fae Farm is coming out a lot earlier than we anticipated or what the deal is.
If there is a direct in September, I hope we get out about it. Then I’m looking forward to Fantasy Life, a live Sim with a twist. Live Sim staples like resource collection, cooking, and decorating are all present, but there’s also a story to advance. Many people may watch the clip and immediately draw comparisons to Animal Crossing, but I assure you that I do not find any similarities between the two games.
War is a staple of the fantasy world. While Animal Crossing lets you improvise regarding fun and decoration, Fantasy Life provides more structure through story-based quests and tasks. In addition, the village will give you tasks to complete. You also have more career options in Fantasy Life than in other living simulations.
Career paths range from “chef” to “wizard,” “mercenary,” “alchemist,” “carpenter,” and more. The best part is that you can move between careers whenever you like, and while progressing through each job, you will be granted access to new and potentially helpful abilities over time. There are a lot of fans anticipating this game. I need more information on what is happening and when it will be released between October and November 2023.
DAVE THE DIVER
We have DAVE THE DIVER, which we expect to release for the Nintendo Switch by the year’s end 2023. However, you do find yourself killing fish, sort of for use at the neighborhood sushi bar. Just something to think about if you’re considering purchasing the game; I realize that not everyone enjoys a relaxing atmosphere.
You play as a diver named Dave, who is charged with capturing fish for a small sushi restaurant; the restaurant’s profits are used to fund gameplay improvements. Even though it may sound elementary, a lot of strategy is involved. For starters, there’s the water itself; since the Blue Hole isn’t quite typical, no two dives there will ever be the same.
Every time I go to the ocean, it looks different. Although restricted in how far or deep you can travel, you dive right in, making this a roguelike game. When you initially enter the water, you won’t have the capacity to bring back as many fish or as large of a catch.
The diving itself is exciting, but I think the true pleasure begins when you deliver the fish to the sushi restaurant and take over management. The day’s catch will be the basis for your dinner, so plan accordingly. Workers can be hired and educated. You support the business and its operations by attending to the needs of its consumers.
Sun Haven
Among the next cozy games, there’s Sun Haven. According to the Community Manager, work on the Switch Port is nearly complete. It will likely be released for the Switch before the end of 2023.
Sun Haven is one of my favorite games since it’s a farming simulator with a magical twist, and you get to choose from a wide variety of spells and abilities when making your character. When evil forces attack your train to Sun Haven, you must embark on a dangerous mission to stop them before it’s too late.
Despite the ominous introduction, the game’s three distinct cities offer a relaxing and fresh twist on the farming Sim genre. You can have multiple farms, each specializing in a distinct set of crops. You’ll have much to keep you occupied besides just fulfilling customer orders.
In addition, many cities you can visit are home to well-rounded minds. There are many NPCs to befriend and even fall in love with and many mounts and pets to acquire. Catching bugs and fish, cooking, decorating, and, ideally, rescuing the earth are all part of the standard fare in agricultural simulations.
The Plucky Squire
The Plucky Squire is today’s final entry to the cozy games category. It is one of the most visually stunning games on this list, and we all know that it will be released in 2023. Jot and his pals are fictional characters from a book who accidentally enter a 3D environment. The plot thickens, however, as one of the protagonists, Humgrump, realizes he is the book’s antagonist and will ultimately fail.
Instead of giving in to his fate, he attempts to alter it by expelling his pals and antagonist, Jaw, from the comics. In the game, you control Jaw as he fights against Humgrump’s evil armies to rescue his pals and bring back the book’s happy conclusion. I think it’s adorable that the game transitions between 2D and 3D environments and has a ton of riddles, flying, and so much more.
