How do you repair and upgrade your weapons and shields in Tears of the Kingdom?
Unlike In Breath of the Wild, you can actually repair your weapons and shields in Tears of the Kingdom. You can boost your favorite weapon’s stat, in addition to the fact that you can repair them. The procedure for this is straightforward, but there is a significant amount of content about that which needs to be covered.
For instance, if you want to repair and enhance the Black Iizzle Blade, you need to travel to Death Mountain, located northeast of Central Hyrule. You may get the Shrine by going to Goron City and picking it up there. You can find one of these Octoroks if you leave the Shrine and travel a short distance north, where you will arrive directly on the Plateau, opposite side of the valley. You can find them everywhere on Death Mountain, but you have to get close to them to use them.
To repair a weapon or shield, you have to make sure that the weapon you desire is not equipped, and then, after your weapon is not equipped, you will simply drop that on the ground in front of the Octoroks. Nevertheless, you really must use a shield. When your weapon is blown away by the Octoroks, you have a far better chance of survival. It will swallow it whole, and then, after a brief sparkle, it will spit it back out at you. After picking it up again, you’ll see that not only has the damage on the Black Iizzle Blade been completely fixed, but it will now get new stat.
This Royal Guard’s Claymores are noteworthy since they are at their strongest right before they break. You can wish to roll again for the upgrade you just obtained. Though repair and enhancing one of your weapons using Octoroks can only be done once every blood moon, and only a limited number of such Octoroks are available near Death Mountain. Therefore, once you have located an Octorok, I suggest you immediately save the game. Now that you have the weapon, you should load the save game and continue to repair and improve it until you get something you want.
Since you can only repair one item per blood moon, the second crucial thing is that you can use it to repair the Hylian Shield. You can actually re-buy the Hylian Shield, but perhaps you want to upgrade the Hylian Shield, and you can continue to do this because it’s so hard to break as it is throughout the game, you can come back and re-roll stats in your Hylian Shield and continuously make it even better.
On the other hand, some types of weapons cannot be repaired in this manner. Some weapons, however, can’t be repaired in this fashion. Your Fierce Deity Sword, which is both an amiibo and a sword, will be recoverable in the game if we lose it. The Octoroks cannot repair or enhance it. This is the case with every amiibo weapon; regardless of whether or not you found them in the game, they cannot be upgraded or repaired in any manner.
Anyway, one of the reasons you should strongly consider upgrading the Black Iizzle Blade is because the Attack Up +5 bonus it has when it is lightly damaged actually becomes Attack Up +10 when severely damaged. Its damage is increased by a factor of two when it is getting close to breaking, and there is a strategy you may employ to prevent the weapon from ever breaking when you are battling Lynels, which are capable of dealing a lot of damage.
What you can do is if you unfuse or destroy the fused material and go back and refuse it to Blue-Maned Lynel Saber Horn; you’re going see that now we have a weapon with 140 damage which is just amazing. Its maximum possible power is roughly 170, but it can become quite terrifying with enough Attack + Up.
There are quite a few Octoroks in the vicinity of the Marakuguc Shrine, and more of these rocks are located all over the map. You can track them easily if you have the Sensor Plus for your Purah Pad, and it is incredibly handy to know where even a couple of them are at any one time. Since you are able to improve the stats, you can just return to these areas at any time and repair or upgrade your weapons as you continue through the game. This allows you to maintain your favorite gear at all times, so it’s a pretty wonderful trick, and it can be found in Tears of the Kingdom.
