Elden Ring has many areas for players to explore, some harder to reach than others and some hidden.
Elden Ring has finally arrived, much to the delight of FromSoftware fans around the world. The newest entry in Hidetaka Miyazaki’s incredibly infamous gaming repertoire has quickly become regarded by some reviewers as one of the best games ever made.
Elden Ring and most FromSoftware titles, in general, are often praised for the uniqueness of their world and how players have to be aware of it so they do not miss anything. This is even more true in Elden Ring. The vast open world can deceive many players with what, in fact, could be regarded as one of the most in-depth open worlds ever made. Due to this, players may miss a vast array of locations, abilities, and more. One such area is The Church Of Dragon Communion.
In this area, players will be able to access some of the more unique abilities in Elden Ring. Once players kill one of the many Dragons scattered across The Lands Between, they will be able to exchange their Dragon Hearts for various abilities such as Dragonfire, Dragonclaw, and Dragonmaw.
Dragonfire serves as a powerful AOE fire breath attack, while Dragonclaw drags colossal claws across the ground in a wide arc. Dragonmaw serves as an incredibly powerful bite attack that carves through enemies.
Player Characters of High Faith and High Arcane will be the only ones able to use these abilities, so you may not get the chance this time around for all of you melee players out there. However, the area around the Church is also scattered with a variety of materials that players will be able to use for crafting, so it is not completely useless.
To find your way to The Church of Dragon Communion is a little complex. If you start from the Church of Elleh, you should very carefully make your way towards the beach, minding that you will not leap to your death or meet your end at the sword or wide swing of a giant. While on the beach, you should head southwards down the beach until you reach a dark spot on the cliff face. This is the Coastal Cave.
Players should avoid attempting to swim to the island… you can’t… you will die. Once you reach the coastal cave, enter and activate that lost grace. You now have that on the map and can return to it whenever you wish.
When you are in the coastal cave, I highly advise that you either have a torch in your hand or purchase a lantern from the merchant in Liurnia of The Lakes. Either way, it is pitch black, and you will have to be careful of enemies approaching you.
As you push through the minor cave, you will be beset by the dungeon bosses. Demi-Human Chiefs and their minions. Be careful of their insanely quick and relentless attacks, if you have access to any of the summons available in Elden Ring this would be a perfect time to use them as they distract from the enemies as you strike from behind.
After defeating the two bosses and gaining the sewing needle alongside some tailoring tools, push through the cave until, eventually, you find yourself on the outside of the cave. You are now on the island with The Church of Dragon Communion. Some players have reported issues regarding the menu appearing on the altar in the church. If you examine the altar and no menu appears, activate the lost grace site outside of the church and rest until morning, and that should solve the issue.
Congratulations! You can now access your very own Dragon Abilities.
