Elden Ring is full of unique items, weapons and armour and even more bosses. The Moonveil Katana is one of the best weapons in the game and the boss guarding it, isn’t as tough as it may first appear.
Elden Ring is full to the brim with adventure. It seems that the longer I remain within FromSoftwares elegantly crafted world the more I am sucked in. We have already sought the Dectus Medallions that allows players to travel to the Altus Plateau. But there are many more things hidden within the Scarlet rot of the blighted Caelid Wilds.
So. Much. More.
South of the Lost Grace site, Rotview Balcony, Elden Ring players can find a dungeon called: Gael Tunnel.
Gael Tunnel is not the most remarkable of dungeons and ultimately is rather short, which comes as a surprise considering how fantastic the weapon that players can get access to is. As players enter the tunnel, they will be greeted by two guards stood on the edge of the wooden palisade. I would advise stealth attacking the one on the right first as the following kick will send him off the edge and down quite a height.
You will have to fight these two, the next section requires a bit of patience and having an enemy behind you will only make you slip and fall.
Once both enemies have been taken care of, it’s time to drop. Players familiar with Elden Ring’s dungeons will recognise this immediately. You should carefully drop onto each available outcropping, look for the light of candles, do not oversell your jump or you will fall to your death. Equally, do not so calmly walk off the edge, as the same thing will happen, rolling tends to be the best option.
Once you’ve parkoured your way down, you have made your way to the next section. Light the lost grace site and continue onwards,
A you continue onwards, you will notice a vast group of enemies. If you have been into any of the mines across Elden Ring you will be familiar with what these enemies are. However, unlike those found in the crystal mines, these miners do not force your weapons to bounce off, furthermore, rather than magic damage, they work in fire.
Be careful with these enemies, despite their appearance they hit real hard and you do not want to be caught by one of them, particularly at lower levels.
Whether you fight or flee, you must get through this room. Be cautious as the enemies do utilise running attacks which can most certainly catch you even when you are at a full sprint. There will be a minor fork in your path, as seen in the image above. Go left and down the stairs.
Similar to before there will be an enemy stood at the edge of a wooden palisade, either kill him or sprint past him. There is a ladder that you can go down, however, the drop is not that high and since you are no doubt being pursued by a cavalcade of raving fire miners, I would recommend that you leap from the wooden palisade to the left.
You will find yourself running through this corridor. Keep running (there will be a smithing stone on your left, take that as well.) There will be multiple doors before you. Double doors to your right and a single door in front of you avoid the double doors for now, instead heading through the door ahead, where (if you rescued him) you will find an old friend.
Once you meet one of Elden Ring’s best NPC’s once again, you should go behind him where there is another smithing stone and then head right through the already opened door. You will then see what could be your best friend this fight, the Rear Gael Tunnel Lost site of Grace.
This is a godsend as if you die to the dungeons boss, rather than having to sprint through that mess again, you will simply spawn here.
Now head back the way you came, remember those double doors, now you should step through them.
As you do so you will be faced with the Magma Wyrm, a huge dragon with a massive curved greatsword that spews Magma. Believe me, that sounds way worse than it actually is. The dragons most devastating attack is his magma charge. The beast will rush you, magma spewing from its open maw, if you are too close it will knock you over into the pool of magma it just made, that’s pretty much instant death.
The rest of the creatures attacks are slow and quite readable, however, I will mention its leap attack. It is very rare, but it can catch you off guard. Ultimately, for melee characters you want to stick as close as possible, chopping away at it’s legs. After a short time it will tilt its head and attempt to spew lava at you, simply run around to the other side of the dragon, and keep wailing on it as the animation offers a great opportunity for lots of damage.
Bleed weapons work especially well on this Dragon so if you utilise such weapons, it may be of use.
Keep calm and do not get too greedy and this fight should be simple for you.
For ranged characters, the exact opposite. Keep far away, using either your bow or spells and do not let the magma wyrm get close. Watch for his lunge attack, it has a deceptive range and can catch you off guard.
Once the Dragon is dead you will get two things. A Dragon heart (which you can use at the Church of Dragon communion) and the weapon that we have been seeking: Moonveil.
The required attributes of Moonveil are quite high in terms of intelligence at 23, so certain melee type characters may have to respec to be able to utilise this fantastic weapon. It has some great scaling, at the start and even more so when upgraded. In addition to this, players will also gain access to Transient Moonlight, Moonveils unique ability. It is similar to the Uchigatanas unsheathe except its power and reach is far greater.
That’s it, you now have one of the best intelligence/dex weapons in Elden Ring.
